Miss Singapore ranks last in online poll

Once again, Singapore's result at the annual Miss Universe pageant was disappointing, to say the least.

Miss Tania Lim, Singapore's representative at the competition, did not make it to the Top 15 finalists. This in itself is not surprising, given the fact that there were 83 contestants in the pageant, which was held in Las Vegas, USA.

However, what is setting tongues wagging is Miss Singapore's dismal ranking in the online poll conducted by the Miss Universe organisers.

Out of a possible score of 5, Miss Singapore was rated only 1.70. She was tied with Miss US Virgin Islands Janeisha John for the last spot.

In contrast, Miss Philippines Venus Raj, who made it to the Top 5, topped the poll with a score of 3.55 while Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete, the pageant's eventual winner, scored a 2.74.

Many of our Asian neighbours fared rather well in the online poll. Miss Malaysia Nadine Ann Thomas and Miss China Tang Wen both scored 2.08. Miss Korea Joori Kim and Miss Indonesia Qory Sandioriva scored 2.47 and 2.73 respectively. Miss Thailand Fonthip Watcharatrakul was ranked sixth in the online poll with a score of 2.78.

Scroll down to the end to see how Miss Singapore compares with Miss Philippines and Miss Mexico.

Well, if U ask me, I shall say whoever is representing Spore mustn't be some 'bimbo'. Hence she must be gd looking, intelligent and be able to be like a Singapore's ambassador, To start with., she shd 'sell Singapore as a lovely touristy place to visit!!'

sorry Wat2do, u are wrong. should have sent Ris Low. What you think we have been doing all these F1, YOG things for? Eyeballs man, eyeballs. Send a dumb blonde would have got the world talking. Seriously, after Annabelle Chong, no one even come close to the mark.

The real goods one don't join the competition as they got better things to do in their lives...such as getting a rich husband who would not want this kind of unneccesary exposure

So she's rated last. So what. Is this a Life & Death situation like the massive floodings in Pakistan where people died, lost homes, starving, desperate...? The whole thing is a shallow & insignificant charade. The 'defeated' beauty contestants can go home & eat & be with ther families & loved ones unlike most of the poor & destitute flood victims. Its not important if she's rated 1st or last bec it simply isn't ...it is just whole load of crock..

This is last among some of the most beautiful women in the world. last among the best is better than being first among the worst.

Some of us have a strange way of supporting and encouraging fellow Singaporeans. Have a thought before you start to throw dirt.

Of course she's beautiful and at least, better in many ways than Ris Low. Unfortunately, so are all the other beautiful contestants. Like it or not, the truth remains with the results. She may have fared well in other areas but she is definitely not beautiful enough to win and even though the organisers may have emphasized on intelligence, it is not enough. The winner must be an all-rounder. Unfortunately, when you especially enter a beauty contest, you must be prepared to accept the good and disparaging remarks thrown by the public.
