How to apply skincare and prep skin for make-up

How to apply skincare and prep skin for make-up

- When using BB cream, which doubles as skincare and make-up, it is all the more important to remove it before going to bed as our faces still attract and retain dirt throughout the day. If you are starved for time, and feel too tired to use a make-up remover and cleanser in two steps, opt for a 2-in-1 make-up remover and face cleanser to cut down the number of steps.

- For our humid weather, try a toner that cooling in order to keep face comfortable and allow make-up to stay on longer.

Kevin recommends the L'egere Ice Toner, which comes in a spray form and feels very cool on the skin when applied. However, do not spray onto face at a very close distance as that will hurt skin. Instead, spray onto face while keeping the bottle an arm's length away, or apply first onto cotton wool, before dabbing onto skin.

- When using skincare, remember to apply richer, replenishing skin creams at night, and only sparingly. The reason is that pores on our skin are enlarged at night and will absorb the benefits from these creams better. You can also use less and get more mileage out of your creams as skin absorbs better while we are sleeping.

- Day creams should help to protect skin from external aggressors and stay hydrated, but they do not need to be as rich.

-Remember to apply your creams onto the neck as well, as most women neglect that area and age tends to show up there.

- When applying pore minimisers, there is no need to rub the formula all over the skin.

Instead, apply selectively on areas of the face where the pores are visibly enlarged. Use sparingly and apply onto face in downward strokes, as the purpose of the pore minimiser is to reflect light off the face to make skin look smoother and pores appear smaller.

- Men can use BB creams too for its skincare and concealing effects. Try out L'egere's BB cream for men, which has a non-tinted formula and will blend seamlessly into skin when warmed on skin, so they do not look like they are wearing make-up.
