Putting a spin to the female touch

Nicole Chen, 23, Singapore

You may remember the 2007 Channel 5 reality TV show Girl On Girl where she battled five other girls in various challenges such as changing car tyres and killing cockroaches.

Nowadays, Chen, who was Miss Earth Singapore 2007, goes by the title Model DJ Nicole C. She recently ended her first local residency at A971 Cafe and has spun at places like Tokyo’s A971 and Kuala Lumpur’s Asian Heritage Row F1 party.

Sky Nellor, 38, Australia

She started as a model who has graced covers of magazines like Vogue Spain and Amica and began her DJ career after a friend dared her to spin at a club.

Now based in New York, Nellor’s A-list clientele includes Vanity Fair, Kanye West and Timbaland.

She has also spun at hot spots like New York’s Bungalow 8 and Miami’s Mansion Nightclub.

Nellor recently concluded her residency at US rapper Jay Z’s The 40/40 Club in New York.

Lauren Pope, 27, UK

More famous for her nude Page 3 pictorials in Brit newspaper The Sun, the glamour model added “DJ” to her resume three years ago.

Unsurprisingly, UK men’s magazine Nuts once named her the world’s sexist DJ.

Last year, US starlet Lindsay Lohan asked Pope to spin for her at a London gig, reported The Sun. Many viewed it as a move by Lohan to spite ex-gal pal Samantha Ronson, who is also a DJ.
