Next Friday, head down to Mandarin Gallery's A Great Night Sale, from 9pm till midnight. The first 1,000 shoppers who sign up at www.mandaringallery.com.sg will receive $40 worth of vouchers. At a lucky draw held at 11.30pm, 10 winners will each bag $500 in vouchers.

313@somerset is offering several fun weekend activities at its kids corner on level 4. There are story-telling sessions from 2 to 2.30pm, face-painting and balloon sculpting sessions from 3 to 4pm and a magic show from 5 to 5.30pm. The activities start this weekend and are held every Saturday and Sunday until June 26.

Playground at Tangs Orchard, level 4, houses a parents' lounge (above) that has changing tables, bottle warmers and hot water facilities. Take your tykes for shopping expeditions and take a breather here.

The crowd hater

Palais Renaissance, Hilton Hotel's Shopping Gallery and Forum are welcome sanctuaries amid Orchard Road's hustle and bustle. At Forum, check out the new Black Comme Des Garcon store and the Kids 21 sale, both on level 1.

Venture out of Orchard Road for more fab buys. Parco Marina Bay, for instance, houses collections by 25 new local designers under its fashion incubator project and is offering up to 40 per cent off the labels. Or check out British label Fred Perry's pop-up sale store at 22 Ann Siang Road, where you can find discounts of up to 70 per cent for past-season collections until next Sunday, with an extra 10 per cent off if you pay with an UOB credit card.

The fitting room connoisseur


For women seeking luxurious surroundings when trying on garments, visit the dressing rooms (above) at level2of Tangs Orchard and level1 of Tangs VivoCity.

With names like Lux Deluxe and Queen Of Hearts, they come decorated with velvet walls, leopard-spotted flooring, fancy mirrors and chandeliers.

If you like your fitting rooms warm and cozy, you will enjoy shopping at Italian label DSquared at 01-24Ion Orchard. Each fitting room features wood interiors modelled after its Milan flagship store and quirky fixtures like a built-in fireplace.

Those who need a 'yay' or 'nay' and a little help with strap adjustments when trying on underwear can get their fix at Singapore's first couples' dressing rooms at Triumph's boutique at B3-08 Ion Orchard. Men can accompany their partners into the rooms.

The eco warrior

Eco-chic store Echo at 02-12 Wheelock Place features handbag brands Ecoist (above) and Harveys (below), which use recycled materials like candy wrappers, paper and seat belts. You can also find accessories label Gulguvenc, which boasts brooches and earrings made from plastic bottles.

For the duration of the GSS, the store is offering 30per cent off its brands, a special pre-order service on Harveys' fall/winter 2010 collection and a limited-edition Elvis & Kresse collection, starting from $350 for a wallet.

The tech hunter

If you want to take pictures of the glorious new togs you snagged during the GSS, you may be interested in Casio's Exilim camera promotions at authorised dealers from today till July 25.

The Japanese brand's Z2000, $479, and Z550, $369, come with complimentary NTUC shopping vouchers of $30 and $20 respectively. The H15 model is now $539, down from the usual $599.

Be among the first in Singapore to own an iPad. Orchard Central is giving away 20 sets this GSS. Simply spend $50 at the mall to qualify for the draw.

The hungry shopper

Toast (above), a cafe tucked away in a corner of Takashimaya Shopping Centre on level 2, is the perfect spot to rest and recharge. Try its famous iced lemon tea, $3.80, which comes with lemon pulp, signature passion fruit cake, $5.50, and cupcakes, $4.20 to $4.50.

Arteastiq (below) on the fourth floor of Mandarin Gallery is a French-style tea lounge located within contemporary European furniture boutique Marxx. It has a view of lush greenery along busy Orchard Road.

Offerings range from fruit teas to alcoholic ones such as choya lychee. Prices start from $11.

Cova Pasticceria Confetteria at Paragon is offering 20per cent off its premium chocolates for Citi Paragon Platinum MasterCard members from today to July 25. For the whole of next month, pay with a Citibank credit card and receive a complimentary set of four mini pastries worth $8.40 with every purchase of a dinner main course.

Adeva Spa at Paragon has a 90-minute GSS Couple Special for $168 instead of the usual $600. The package includes a Swedish massage, seasonal spa polish and complimentary chocolates from Chocolat Factory.
