J-Lo needs a plan B
by Jeanmarie Tan

It’s been four years since Jennifer Lopez last made a movie, so you’d expect her to bring on the drama for her much-awaited comeback.

Never mind that her new rom com The Back-Up Plan – in which she plays a woman who undergoes artificial insemination after failing to find Mr Right – opened to critical mauling and lukewarm box office business.

At least, we can still count on one of Hollywood’s most fashionable women to bring her A game to the red carpet, right?

Lopez is looking better than ever, no doubt about that. But the clothes? That’s a different story.

I appreciate how the 41-year-old singer-actress changes it up every time she promotes The Back-Up Plan in a different country. At least, she’s never boring.

But perhaps what she really needs is a Plan B – when it comes to her stylist, that is.

1 Not even J-Lo can pull off a bin liner – even if it’s by Lanvin.

Or a beehive for that matter.

Jenny from the block, who doesn’t have a single high-fashion avant-garde bone in her body, looks downright ridiculous in her one-shouldered poufy black leather number and matching brass breastplate statement necklace straight off the runway for the London premiere.

The overpowering, piled-high bun is also giving me flashbacks of the notorious retro bouffant she flaunted at the Gigli premiere circa 2003 with ex-fiance Ben Affleck as her arm candy.

It was hard to forget that moment of follicular insanity – until now.

2 I dig this girlish 60s-inspired Paule Ka white cropped jacket and high-waisted full pleated skirt ensemble from the Paris photocall.

Just not on Lopez, because the proportions are all out of whack.
When you have a big booty, short flared bottoms should be avoided at all cost.

The clunky black YSL Tribute Mary Jane platforms also spoil the overall sweeter, softer look she’s aiming for.

3 Why am I still not feeling the wow factor from the Latina bombshell at the Madrid photocall?

This plunging striped burgundy and charcoal Bottega Veneta halterneck frock – paired with nude Christian Louboutin heels – provides both a flattering silhouette and shade for Lopez.

Too bad the heavy grosgrain fabric isn’t as complimentary.

4 Now this is how you do divalicious.

The hot mama of twin toddlers should just fill her closets with skintight minis and nothing else.

Lopez unleashes her inner glamazon in Los Angeles with this sexy, shimmering silver Gianfranco Ferre single-sleeve bodycon dress that accentuates her famous curves, Cartier jewels, studded Christian Louboutin clutch and satin silver Salvatore Ferragamo peep-toe pumps .

She also finally lets her long hair down with old Hollywood-style loose waves.

Not even her canine co-star from The Back-Up Plan can upstage her this time.
