All Wax packages will be absorbed, say 3 spas
by Sia Ling Xin

THE three spas that are offering a "bailout" of defunct beauty salon Wax in the City have promised to absorb all its customers' packages, even if no other spas join them.

Atos Wellness Group, Rustic Nirvana and Subtle Senses had said that they hoped for more spas to join them, because of the large number - more than 3,000 - of customers involved.

Mr Gerald Lim, chief executive of Subtle Senses, said: "No matter what, the three spas that have come forward will absorb all Wax in the City packages equally between us."

But in this case, customers would have to wait for a longer time for their appointments, said Ms Yvette Chiang, CEO of Rustic Nirvana.

This is because the numbers would have exceeded the maximum of 500 that each spa can take in comfortably, based on their manpower and existing customer numbers, she explained.

The three spas had also adopted more than 800 customers of two spas that closed last year, at a cost of more than $400,000.

They are still clearing these customers' packages, Mr Lim said.

Mr Ananda Rajah, 53, CEO of Atos Wellness Group, said that they still hope to see more spas and salons come forward to help shoulder the Wax in the City load, especially those that provide manicures and pedicures, which none of them offer.

Former Wax in the City customer Pearlyn Chong said that she hopes the services offered by the new spas will match those which she had signed up for.

The 25-year-old, who works in the IT industry, said: "I hope the price is similar, too, so that we'll be able to redeem the same number of treatments."

Atos Wellness Group will lead a meeting tomorrow to resolve the issues of customers who were left stranded by the closure.

It hopes to announce more details of the bailout and a full list of participating beauty and wellness shops after the meeting.

I am sure if you were screwed over --- you wouldn't have the carefree attitude you are demonstrating right now.

She paid for a service (in advance on good faith). And it was not rendered. Yes she is fortunate to have recieved some "equivalent" compensation. But after a lot of effort and even then -- it may still have "further issues" at the new spa place ie., not the same terms and conditions.
