Get the look: Textured
by Ian Lee
  • The key to wearing ruffles, feathers or fringes without looking a drama mama is to pair them with something tailored. This strikes a good balance between the feminine and the severe.
  • Keep the focus to one textured element, like this frothy blouse from D&G (photo 1), a statement accessory like this Vice & Vanity necklace (photo 2), BLVD's feather clutches (photo 3) or Dolce & Gabbana's knitted evening bag (photo 4).
  • Wear lots of textured pieces only if your outfit is in a simple palette such as black, white and neutral colours.
  • Avoid texture over your largest area, and choose fabrics that drape and skim, rather than cling.
  • Draped dresses and tops are the easiest textured trend to wear ? they emphasise shape while disguising flaws. This Burberry Prorsum dress is a great choice (photo 5). But do try garments on first to check that the drape's fall is not a flop.
