Kelly gets a shot at supermodel stardom

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Malaysia's first Ford Supermodel Search has finally unearthed a representative to the international Ford Supermodel of the World contest next month.

Kelly Jagan, 20, who won RM250,000 ($102,325) worth of prizes, will represent Malaysia at the international contest in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Jan 14.

Danny Lim, 20, of George Town, was the male winner and he took home RM250,000 worth of prizes.

Eleen Yong, 20, and Ah Ya Ulumuddin, 21, emerged first runners-up and each won RM50,000 in prizes.

Syakella Jazmyn Jasminor and Ian Ong of Kuala Lumpur emerged second runners-up and each won RM30,000.

The eight-episode show, the brainchild of actress and supermodel Amber Chia, commenced on Nov 16 and was co-produced and hosted by Daphne Iking.

Chia, fashion designer Gillian Hung and photographer Azrul Kevin Abdullah were the judges.

Former Ford Model chief executive officer Katie Ford was the guest judge.

Ford and her company received the brand laureate award from the Asia-Pacific Brands Foundation.

Available online for 30 minutes per episode, the show will have its finals aired on Star World (Astro Channel 711) on Dec 19.

In the world finals, the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will win US$250,000 (RM850,000), US$150,000 and US$100,000 respectively and contracts with Ford Model.
