Give your hair a little attention
by MaryAnn Soh

There are two things we often do to our hair to give that extra touch of glamour - we style and colour it.

We want our hair to work for us and make us look good, but we often forget our hair needs, neglecting the fact that it requires as much attention as any other part of our body.

Diva recommends the latest haircare products to pamper your hair in the comforts of your home.

Phytopolleine Universal Elixir

If your hair feels stringy or oilier/ dryer than usual, then perhaps the environment or the chemicals we use have taken a toll on our hair. Hair therapy is always recommended every once or twice a week to purify and restore balance to the scalp.

Phytopolleine Universal Elixir is 100% botanical and it provides deep cleansing for the scalp. The condition of our scalp determines the type of hair we have - dry, oily or dandruff.

One of the key ingredient in the 25 ml concentrate is corn germ oil. We are familiar with corn as a healthy plant which lowers the risk of heart disease but do you know the botanical oil in it is also very beneficial to our hair? It contains essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6), oleic acid and palmitic acid, which are anti-dehydrating and helps to preserve moisture deep within the scalp.

The deep cleanser is suitable for all scalp conditions. Simply use the dropper to apply to the roots of your hair and leave in overnight for maximum results.

Phytopolleine retails for $48 at all Robinsons, John Little and selected Watsons stores.

Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber

Try Microweb Fiber if you want salon-perfect hair from home. The elastic texturiser consists of connective fibers that are re-moldable, unlike some sprays and gels that cast your hair into stone the minute they are applied.

Suitable for both men and women, long or short hairdos, it is great for creating volumes. All you need is a small amount to begin styling.

But perhaps Microweb Fiber is best loved for its long-lasting effects, and for being light and easy on the hair. It can last many hours without reapplication and your won't feel uncomfortable from weighty hair by the end of the day.

It retails for $48 at all authorised salons.

Hoyu Promaster Color Care LX Shampoo/ Treatment

Studies have shown that the first week after you colour your hair is also the peak of colour fading. To retain colour, the solution is not to wash your hair less regularly, but to use the right complementary products.

The Promaster Color Care LX contains three types of amino acides and it helps to restore hair to its natural pH of 4.5 to 5.5. What it does is it repairs damaged hair from roots to ends, while an absorptive natural coating fibre, chitosan, coats cuticles evenly to prevent colour pigments from washing off.

The Stylish Line (right), which comes in a fruity scent, is suitable for limp hair, while the Rich Line is good for thicker, more full-bodied hair.

Shampoo retails for $34 (200ml) and the treatment for $36 (200g). Available at all Hoyu Professional partner salons.
