HONG KONG model Monique Chau has been placed on 12-month probation for drug possession.

The 17-year-old Year Five student of a secondary school in the special administrative region was also ordered to pay the court costs of HK$500 (S$90).

She would be subjected to random urine tests for drugs during the probation period, reported Hong Kong’s Ming Bao.

Chau was charged with drug possession after she was caught with ketamine at her school toilet in September last year.

She pleaded guilty.

Chau entered the entertainment industry after participating in a beauty contest held in conjunction with the Asia Game Show 2007.

Apart from modelling, she was a celebrity chef in a television variety programme the Beautiful Cooking 2. She also gained a supporting role in the movie Poker King.
