Asia's Victoria's Secret soon to be in town
by MaryAnn Soh

Singaporean women can look forward to having more options when shopping for their intimate wears as there will soon be a new kid on the block - and in the malls - by the end of this year.

At JING, a fashion show held at Asia On The Edge for the F1 weekend, Diva discovered a new and exciting lingerie brand, Aimer. While the name is probably still unheard of to some of you, Aimer has been considered to be the Victoria's Secret's of China.

Aimer's Executive General Manager Sun Wei reveals that the inimate apparal designer has plans to open two boutique shops in Singapore, with the first store at Vivocity in December 2009. And if all goes as planned, the Chinese lingerie company is also collaborating with Robinsons and intends to launch its debut collection in November.

At the debut fashion show on Thursday evening, a series of three bold and beautiful lingerie collections rocked the Art House as they were worn by some of Shanghai's hottest new faces in the modelling industry and was artfully choreographed by local Director Jeremiah Choy and Creative Producer Jiu Jian,.

The Asian beauties blazed the runway in a whole range of garments from brassieres and corsets to lacy panties. The designers at Aimer played around with fabrics like cotton, lycra and chiffon, while the palette stuck to geometric black and white. Details such as pleats, ruche and lace upped the feminine factor.

Designer Director Zhang Hongyu, who designed the black and white collection, told Diva that she was trying to re-create modern simplicity with the use of lace to soften the harsh contrasts of black and white lingerie.

The price of lingerie apparel will range from S$70-120 and bra sizes range A - F, promising something for every size.

So expect it. Wait for it. After all, an Oriental Victoria's Secret does carry its own mystique.

Check out the runway collection here or head down to The Art House from now until 27 September, 2009 to experience Asia On The Edge.
