Customisable facial treatments at L'Espace Sante
by Cynthia Loh

It was a treat to walk into L'Espace Sante at Palais Renaissance for a bout of pampering.

Headed by former Sothy's trainers, and combined with a Sothys partnership, a French-based luxury skincare brand that emphasises treatment and cure for your skin, gives the therapists at L'Espace Beaute access to a range of face and body treatments that are customisable to treat different skin conditions. This also means that you get the same sort of treatment at other international Sothys Institutes in Paris, New York and Tokyo.

Therapists there are required to have a minimum experience of three to five years of hands-on beauty experience under their belt, so you are assured of professional hands working on your skin.

Their recommendations are designed to target your most immediate skin problems, if any, before they follow up with treatments for other underlying conditions. For example, if you have acne and pigmentation problems, your therapist will make sure to treat your acne problems first, before providing you with a whitening solution, to ensure that your acne does not flare up and worsen.

My therapist, Eve, with 12 years of direct experience, let her hands do the talking. After a quick visual examination, I was treated to a facial aimed at soothing my sensitive, blotchy skin. But before we got down to business, the pampering experience started with a serving of red date honey tea (there was also a choice of ginger tea) and a soothing foot bath after you are shown into the facial treatment room.

While Eve did not explain much about the products that she was using, she was friendly and seemed to know what she was doing. So I allowed her to complete my facial experience without much interaction.

The massage technique employed was relaxing and will quickly put you at ease, and extraction of whiteheads and built-up sebum around my nose and cheeks area was done quickly and gently. I did not get to experience the PPx+ Multi-Application System, a machine that helps to resolve skin ailments from unwanted hair to acne, since I am pregnant, but I'm told that it was part and parcel of the treatment process.

You can also rest assured that you won't be experiencing any ill side-effects, since the beauty institute uses a well-established skincare brand and professional therapists who know their stuff. If you wish to bring home some of the products to continue with skincare at home, there is a range of homecare products which will complement your skin condition too.

The entire experience took about 1 hour and will cost you about S$245 - a little on the pricey side, but a well-worth investment if you're looking to find yourself that bit of heaven on a hectic working day and get those skin woes resolved.

L'Espace Sante is located at Palais Renaissance, Palais Renaissance #B1-04 390 Orchard Road Singapore 238871. Call 6235 2821 for appointments and enquiries. Opening hours are from Mondays to Fridays, from 11am to 9pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 7pm and Sundays and Public Holidays from 10am to 6pm.
