An exclusive peek at Michelle Chia's wedding dress

THEY met and fell in love on the set of the drama series Power Of Love in 2004.

But MediaCorp actors Shaun Chen, 31, and Michelle Chia, 32, kept their romance under wraps for months despite rumours and went public only when they felt their relationship was stable.

Now, the couple are tying the knot.

Shaun even took the initiative to tell the media of their wedding plans. He said he knew many reporters had watched Michelle grow up (she started as a child actress), and many had seen him blossom from showbiz greenhorn to leading man.

Of course, there are still a few things they would like to keep just between themselves. They're not saying when they are registering their marriage or whether they will show off their love nest. And Michelle would show off only one of her wedding gowns.

How are your wedding preparations coming along? Any more 'secrets' to reveal?

SHAUN: We're almost done, except for sending out the invitations and coming up with the night's seating arrangement. Whatever that we can reveal to the public aren't really secrets, are they?

Details of Shaun and Michelle's wedding

Date and venue of Wedding dinner: May 11, 2009 at Ritz Carlton

Number of expected guests: 700 - 1,000

Wedding theme: An autumn fairytale, as the bride likes autumn colours, but no firm concept. It will not be an all-white wedding

Wedding entourage: Eight groomsmen and eight bridesmaids.

Wedding gown: The bride will wear three gowns sponsored by Wedding Present, worth about $20,000 and which have taken three months to create. The first is a crystal-studded lace princess gown, the second is a peacock-blue sexy evening gown and the third is a mermaid gown with Victorian lace for the traditional Chinese wedding ceremony.

Items to be sponsored: Wedding gowns, hair, jewellery, bridal car and invitation cards

Honeymoon location: Europe and Greece, for 16 days

MICHELLE: Actually, we've given away most of the details of our wedding already.

We're like a normal couple, there are some stuff that we feel the whole world doesn't need to know. That's why, on the wedding day itself, the media can only take pictures of me leaving my house, not at our new home.

Are there really no secrets between the two of you?

SHAUN: Both of us don't have many secrets to begin with. Of course, there will be some secrets my buddies share with me, but those are strictly 'secrets between friends' which I can't tell Michelle.

MICHELLE: Don't think there are any. There are some things that I don't feel we need to probe into, like the amount of money in our bank accounts or how much we spend each month.

How long was it before you told the other your secrets?

SHAUN: After around a year of courtship, when we came to a mutual understanding.

MICHELLE: I'm like an open book, I don't have many things that I need to hide from him. We wouldn't deliberately talk about secrets, but they will pop up occasionally in our conversations.

Will you share details of your respective exes to each other?

SHAUN: We did, but we didn't go into great detail. It's important to move forward, not backwards, in a relationship, so I don't think it's necessary to find out too much about what's happened in the past.

MICHELLE: Shared! Better to be open and upfront about such matters. (Laughs.)

Are you all hoping to become parents soon, perhaps have a Tiger year baby?

SHAUN: Haha, we're trying our best. Michelle wants two kids, I want four, so we're aiming for six! I hope our first child will be a boy. She wants a girl though. It'll be great if we can have twins!

MICHELLE: Actually, we had hoped to 'board the bus before paying for the ticket', then it'll be a case of double bliss on our wedding day!

But it looks like it's not going to happen now. Plus both of us will be busy with filming work all the way till August.

Michelle Natsumi,

I know it's common for ppl to board the bus before paying the ticket but she being a girl & a celebrity - she's sending the wrong message to her younger fans. She can just keep her thought to herself instead of announcing
to the world Singapore.

Probably you are one passenger who does the same as her....kekeke
