I'll be a virtuous wife, says Stef
by Christina Ng

SINGAPORE'S very own pop princess, Stefanie Sun, has officially tied the knot.

Yesterday, the 32-year-old wed her boyfriend, Mr Nadim van der Ros, in a traditional wedding ceremony. Later in the evening, the two arrived at luxury hotel Capella Singapore on Sentosa to host a wedding dinner that began at 7pm.

Sun and Mr van der Ros, an engagement director at marketing agency Possible Worldwide, have been dating for five years.

The couple registered their marriage on March 31 at the Singapore Registry of Marriages. Sun, who released a media statement yesterday afternoon, said: "Today is a joyful day...(It) marks the beginning of another stage of my life, and I really hope to be a virtuous wife from now on."

Mr van der Ros, 34, was more candid, posting this message on his Twitter account: "Not a good day to be in the heat. Good day to get married though."

Sun added in her statement that they chose to get married yesterday because it marks the day she met Mr van der Ros five years ago.

Their relationship came to light when Sun was seen cheering on her beau at the triathalon in Singapore in March 2009.

According to reports, the two met through mutual friends, and Mr van der Ros later moved to Singapore to be with her.

"We've been dating for a very long time," Sun added in her statement, before hinting to the media her reason for choosing a low-key ceremony, despite being considered pop royalty.

She said: "We are both very easy-going and casual people. We are just happy to complete a joyous ceremony, without anxiety and stress."

Still, she revealed that "my most stressful time has got to be the wedding preparations".

Sun had three outfits for her big day: A traditional white wedding dress in the morning, a red gown in the afternoon for the tea ceremony at her parents' home, and a white-lace gown for the dinner reception at Capella's grand ballroom.

The ballroom at Capella reportedly holds a maximum of 400 people, and the couple's guests included family, as well as Mr van der Ros' work colleagues.

Notable guests who attended the ceremony were said to include Taiwan pop princess Jolin Tsai, who performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last Saturday, and pop diva A*mei.

No wonder security at Capella was tight, with the main carpark blocked off for hotel guests and wedding attendees.

Sun's media release oozed with absolute contentment.

She ended her official statement with these words: "I've received lots of well wishes from the media, friends and fans. Thank you! I also hope that everyone who attends my ceremony today will be happy. The most important thing is, I'm at my most beautiful today."
