Wendy Jacobs on the road to recovery

Fandi Ahmad appears to be more cheerful these days. The reason behind his cheery mood? His wife, Wendy Jacobs, who suffered a fall a few months ago, is showing encouraging signs of recovery.

"My wife is in a better condition as compared to a few months ago," said Fandi when Berita Harian met him at the election ceremony of the RHB Cup Singapore in Raffles City on Wednesday.

"With the assistance and prayers from friends and family, she is able to walk at a slow pace though she is still unable to function like she used to," added Fandi, who is currently the coach of Indonesian football club, Pelita Jaya.

Fandi, 47, who has five children, said his wife undergoes therapy sessions every day.

But he did not mention where Wendy was receiving her treatment after being discharged from Gleneagles Hospital in early March.

"I can only pray that she has a speedy recovery and that she will be able to walk normally soon," added Fandi, who hopes that his wife will recover fully within the next three or four months.

According to a few of his 's close friends, Wendy was understood to have received further treatment every day ever since Fandi arrived here last week.

The coach of Pelita Jaya is taking the opportunity to return to Singapore while the Indonesian league is taking a break.

In February, Wendy was reported to be having problems after her fall and Fandi denied claims that his wife was suffering from a stroke.
