DISTINCTION

BEYONCE

British Academy Film Awards in London

Gown: Vrettos Vrettakos

It was love at first sight with this glittering, curve-hugging emerald green stunner fit for a Queen (Bey). Luxe, dazzling and oh-so-divalicious, it's got to be one of the US pop star's career-best looks.

LUPITA NYONG'O

British Academy Film Awards in London

Gown: Christian Dior

Now THIS is why I live for awards season. The Kenyan starlet slayed in this classic strapless green gown, punched up with a gold metal belt and matching cuffs. She should've saved this for the Oscars though, because I can't imagine anything else topping it.

CARINA LAU

Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin

Dress: Ralph & Russo

That gargantuan silk organza bow would look downright ridiculous on anyone. But by some miracle, the Hong Kong actress effortlessly pulled off this breathtaking, unique and expertly-crafted dusty pink lace cocktail dress that exudes just the right amount of drama.

LILY ALLEN

British Academy Film Awards in London

Gown: Vivienne Westwood

It's so rare to see the British singer wearing colour - or a sartorial acid trip done right. Bright orange on top of hot pink, with a quirky neon pink feathered hairpiece to boot, is long-overdue compensation. Welcome back, all is forgiven.

KYLIE MINOGUE

British Academy Film Awards in London

Dress: William Wilde

Wrapping oneself in unforgiving latex at the age of 45 is either an act of bravery or stupidity.

Luckily for the forever-young Australian singer, her kinky risk paid off. Doesn't she look every bit the temptress, even with an oversized bow across her chest?

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

British Academy Film Awards in London

Dress and shoes: Saint Laurent

I'm totally digging the disco-glam 80s vibe of the British model's red-and-black sequined zebra print micro-mini. Oh, the sculpted padded shoulder details are my weakness.

BARELY PASS

ELLIE GOULDING

British Academy Film Awards in London

Gown: Vivienne Westwood

Every girl may want a princess moment, but it doesn't mean every girl can. Alas, Brit singer Goulding is that girl. The usually edgy dresser appears to have been forced at gunpoint into this uncharacteristically girly, frothy pastel pink and white taffeta-and-tulle corset ballgown that came right out of a Disney cartoon. Too bad no one's gonna buy it.

OLGA KURYLENKO

Elle Style Awards in London

Dress: Isabel Marant

The invasion of the body snatchers is happening right here - an alien lifeform has obviously possessed the elegant French actress. Her dated embellished LBD belongs in a figure-skating competition, and that high chunky plait on a five-year-old.

FAIL

JESSIE J

Elle Style Awards in London

Dress and boots: Tom Ford

The British singer's pink body-con micro-mini featuring swirling cut-outs is hardly a fail, but those thigh-high boots laced so high she's probably still taking them off now are so hideous even strippers wouldn't touch them with a long pole.
