How does Michelle Yeoh look fab at 50?

If you had to guess Michelle Yeoh's age, you'd probably be wrong.

We were stunned when the gorgeous actress, who hails from Ipoh, Malaysia, told us that she was 50. We got the chance to interview the spokesperson for French brand Guerlain at the launch of its new Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream in Kuala Lumpur.

It's a role she's perfect for, since she takes her skincare so seriously. "I'm 50, but I think my skin is in great shape because I work hard at it," she confesses, before sharing her beauty and fitness tips with us.

1. HAVE AN INTENSIVE SKINCARE ROUTINE

Michelle's strict regime doesn't take a break even during busy filming periods, when she has to travel regularly. "I travel with a skincare kit, and one of my must-haves is a whitening roll-on cream face mask from Guerlain."

Michelle also loves applying a hydrating gel eye mask before using the roll-on mask, especially during long flights.

"When I was travelling with movie producer Luc Besson on the publicity for the movie, The Lady, I was doing leg lifts with two masks on my face during the flight.

Luc actually did a double take when he saw me," she jokes.

2. LIMIT YOUR SNACKS

Although she doesn't refrain from eating "sinful food" like chocolate, she indulges in moderation.

We were impressed when she told us she could make a candy bar last up to five days, savouring each bite slowly instead of finishing it in one sitting.

Besides vitamin C, she doesn't take any oral supplements. Instead, she gets her nutrients from a fruit-and-vegetablerich diet.

3. WORK OUT IN THE BATH

She doesn't bother going to the gym, but starts off her day doing stretches in bed, before moving on to stomach- and leg toning exercises, like leg lifts.

Sometimes, she does her toning routine in the bath as she says the water resistance gives her a more challenging workout.

4. AVOID THE SUN

"This is the best beauty advice my grandmother gave me," says the internationally acclaimed actress, who's known for her roles in action movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.

"I used to suntan back in the '80s when it was trendy to do so. But I noticed that doing so aged my skin, so I stopped and now, I never go anywhere without slapping on sunscreen first," she says.

Super space (and skin) saver

I always look out for dual purpose beauty products that won't take up space on my dressing table, and the new Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream fits the bill - it is both an eye cream and a lip balm.

The feather-light formula absorbs quickly, leaving the skin around my eye area soft and smooth.

It also plumped up my lips instantly, without leaving any weird taste.

The Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream is made with three orchid extracts, including one that the brand discovered most recently - the Gold Orchid.

This prized bloom is said to mature only after seven years - this is when it starts to produce the maximum amount of an active ingredient that supposedly boosts energy in skin cells to repair skin.

What you can expect: hydrating and brightening benefits (the cream also uses liquorice root), as well as smoother eye and lip contours.
