Look younger, faster
by Cynthia Loh

If your complexion just can't seem to improve after a myriad of lotions and creams, and those wrinkles and saggy skin just keep persisting, you may want to consider minimally invasive surgery.

While Botox and threadlifts have been around for some time now, surgical treatments that allow you to get glowing, healthy-looking skin with a shortened recovery period are only beginning to become more common. They promise minimal downtime, and little or no side effects, with results guaranteed even after the very first session.

Here are two of the latest treatments on the market:

Perfecting skin's condition

Dr Christine Cheng treating a patient with Perfector

Perfector, a non-invasive facelift offered by Simply Aesthetics, is a treatment that channels nano-currents onto the skin's cells to repair and regenerate collagen, elastin and blood circulation.

In sessions of half-hour treatments as recommended by the specialist, the procedure helps to soften wrinkles and fine lines, lift skin folds to create a sharper jaw line, brighten complexion and improve skin texture.

A colleague who tried the treatment commented that her facials lines disappeared after the first treatment, while the skin around her eyes were also lifted.

Dr Christine Cheng, director of Simply Aesthetic, says that clients opt for this facelift as it is a comfortable treatment that produces quick results and yet has no downtime.

Each half-hour treatment is valued at $400. Call 6732 5527 for more details.

Regenerating your skin from within
Dull, aged-looking skin can be a result of gravity, exposure to free radicals (usually caused by smoking, exposure to pollution and harmful UV rays, stress and even a poor diet). The skin becomes less able to repair itself as a result of these factors.

A diet rich in anti-oxidants, coupled with the use of cosmeceuticals, can aid skin cell turnover and immunity.

Besides eating more fruits and vegetables for that added anti-oxidant boost, treatments such as the Papillon Regeneration helps to directly inject growth factors from your own blood proteins in the form of platelet-rich plasma, to provide a lift to your skin and also boost the skin's cell-regenerating capacity. The treatment is part of Dr Vanessa Phua's signature anti-ageing treatments - the Papillon Revitalizing Lift.

In short, your skin's ability to grow collagen - one of the building blocks of skin - is improved, so that wrinkles are visibly reduced and skin health enhanced.

Skin tone visibly improves after one session, as new skin cells are recruited to grow where the platelet rich plasma has been injected.

Papillon Regeneration for full face begins from $2,500. Call Asia Health Partners at 6235 7888.

I tried Perfector treatment at Simply Aesthetics last year. At the end of the 30 minutes, there were fewer fine lines and wrinkles.
