I've never received alimony from Nicholas Tse: Cecilia Cheung

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung released a statement through her manager on Monday afternoon, clarifying that she has never taken a cent of alimony from ex-husband Nicholas Tse.

According to Chinese news outlet Sohu, Cheung's statement comes after Taiwanese media recently reported that she had demanded for an increase in alimony payments from the actor.

The celebrity couple's divorce was finalised in 2011.

In the statement, Cheung detailed that she has been "self-sufficient" since their divorce, and that Tse's only financial obligation is towards the living expenses of their two young boys, Lucas, 6, and Quintus, 3.

Cheung's statement added that she has been supporting herself and her own family for the past 10 years.

As for the property under their name, Cheung clarified that she had invested her own money in the property, with documents to back her claim.

Cheung's manager added that they have "tolerated many untrue reports" that have surfaced over the past few years, but the actress has only spoken out now because the most recent allegations have affected the lives of Cheung and her sons.

The manager, Ms Zhou, added that Cheung will be taking legal action against those who have published the false claims.

Nicholas Tse had earlier released on statement on Sunday through his manager, rebuking the media for their unsubstantiated reports.
