The perfect hairdo can totally transform your whole image. Not everyone can pull off a blonde buzz cut, but sassy British singer Jessie J has managed the near-impossible.

The 25-year-old judge on reality singing series The Voice UK shaved her head on live television for charity in March, but has kept the fierce closely cropped style till today and has never looked cooler or more stunning.

I mean, this is the same woman who used to hide behind her trademark look of clown make-up, severe jet-black blunt-cut bangs and outlandish printed catsuits.

Who knew getting rid of all that would be key to bringing out her natural beauty?

J's new single may be called Wild, but her new pared-down style direction is anything but.

1. Obviously unafraid of the dreaded wardrobe malfunction, J performed at the American Idol 12 finale in May in a cute green Kenzo forest-print sleeveless playsuit with a neckline that plunged almost to her navel. You flaunt it, girl!

2. This shapeless Gucci tunic with oversized ruffled sleeves and matching wide-leg pants from the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London a few days later wasn't my favourite.

It has bat wings, for goodness' sake.

Luckily, the bold and rich electric blue colour, to-die-for light green Gucci perspex clutch and gold statement earrings saved the day.

3. On stage at The Sound Of Change concert in London in early June, she was uncharacteristically low-key in a shimmering all-black Gucci ensemble of cropped tank top, leggings and patent leather slingback sandals with the brand's signature gold horsebit detail.

She took the "kiss" (keep it simple, stupid) approach here and it worked like a charm.

4. Who knew J could rock beach chic so well?

Inappropriately formal cream pointy pumps aside, her summer get-up at the photocall for the Isle of MTV concert in Malta last week - comprising a multi-coloured striped House of Holland spaghetti-strap maxi dress, black sunnies and gold medallion necklace - put me in a holiday mood.
