TAIWAN - Major Chinese dailies reported of Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai turning down a marriage proposal from her boyfriend and model Vivian Dawson twice.

Tsai supposedly felt that her Kiwi beau was insincere as he was merely popping the question without any follow-ups.

Media reports also speculated that Tsai, 33, was insecure in the nearly three-year relationship as Dawson had too many female friends.

"Also due to the bad experiences in her past courtships with singer Jay Chou and actor Eddie Peng she has changed her perception about marriage and felt that it is not the only path to happiness," the reports said.

Tsai's manager has refuted the proposal claims.

Dawson, 29, was the male actor in one of Tsai's music videos.

Their romance was exposed after they were spotted holidaying in Japan in 2010.
