Steal Kate Middleton's look on the cheap

Let's just say it: Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, could wear a gunnysack and she'd look beautiful. But with a closet full of British designers like Alexander McQueen - and the odd pieces by Emilio Pucci and Diane von Furstenberg - she's practically stunning.

But no need to break the bank or max your credit card to get that Kate look. You can be royally fine with the right high street fashion. So we ransacked the racks at Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Wallis and H&M - their store opens 20th September (in Malaysia), mark it - and here's what we got.

And just so you know, Kate recycles. No harm in that.

Kate wore this now-iconic navy blue Issa wrap for the proclamation of her engagement to Prince William. It's the same dress that's been set in wax at Madame Tussauds in London. Warehouse's version of it only costs UK£35 (S$69).

Kate loves her double-breasted outfits. This particular UK£650 trench coat that she wore on an official trip to Belfast had trend seekers making a beeline to the nearest Burberry and snapping it up. Miss Selfridge has a similar trench that costs only RM389 (S$156).

She was photographed in this pale pink three-quarter sleeve Scala dress by British designer Joseph and a pair of powder pink hells by Jimmy Choos during a private exhibition of her wedding dress at Buckingham Palace. H&M's dress isn't an exact match, but it'll look stunning on you nonetheless. The price tag's not out yet, but it will be in store on the 20th. The shoes are RM269 (S$108).

Kate began another fashion frenzy among fashionistas when she stepped out in these coral-coloured jeans during a visit to the Olympic Park. Kate, a former field hockey player, later swapped her blue blazer from Emillio Pucci for a grey hoodie and kicked off her heels for a pair of Adidas sneakers before participating in a hockey training session.

Dorothy Perkins carries a similar pair of coral coloured jeans at RM139 (S$56) - and while Kate's scarf, alas, was a Team GB creation by Adidas, you can replace it with this Dorothy Perkins number, a lovely brownish one priced at RM49 (S$20). The other items-suede platform pumps at RM226 (S$91) and peplum blazer at RM179 (S$72) - can also be found at Miss Selfridge.

Kate loves these UK£245 blue suede blue wedges from Stuart Weitzman - she wears them everywhere! Needless to say, they're now out of stock. But Wallis has a pair that's almost the same for RM223 (S$89). Get a similar looking pair of jeans (belt included) for RM179 (S$72), also from Wallis.
