Chloé mixes Brit attitude and Parisian flair
by Carmencita S. Sioson

This season, the British creative director of Chloé, Clare Waight Keller, injects a Brit attitude into the brand's Parisian style.

"I looked at festival girls, girls on the street and David Bailey's photos of Marie Helvin and Anjelica Huston on a beach," said Keller of her inspiration. She is the former Pringle of Scotland designer.

She added: "There's a sense of feminine complicity, sensitivity and sunniness in this collection."

Paris fashion house Chloé, a brand associated with various feminine personalities, adds yet another trait to the Chloé girl.

More than 50 years after the brand's founder Gaby Aghion imagined it, Chloé still stands for romantic, ultra-feminine fashion, with a few tweaks through the years, from designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and Hannah MacGibbon.

Chloé, keeping its trademark of luxurious prêt-à-porter, continues to address just about every occasion in a young woman's life while offering cool, different ways of putting things together.

Pastels for summer

Chloe's latest pieces are tinted in chalky pastels mixed with nude hues and bright accents. They're for any woman's style-whether it's hardly-any-fuss practicality or uncontrived dressed-up glamour.

The look was relaxed, from day to evening. If the fluid yet boyish silhouettes were a nod to the Brits, the Parisian flare came by way of girlish floral embroideries and a playful mix of pleats.

Shirtdresses were all about summer freshness, in crepe de Chine or lightweight cotton or linen. Billowy dresses, below-the-knee A-line skirts, loose trousers, and shorts completed the sexy daywear and streetwise look.

Arm candy

Chloé's draw among fashion enthusiasts includes its leather goods.

Spotted on celebrities such as Katie Holmes, Charlize Theron, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Sienna Miller, Chloé's "Paraty" shoulder bag has received as much hype as 2002's hit "Paddington" bag.

In various hues and textures such as black python, brown woven leather, and stark white leather, the current hit gives the illusion of a structured bag with its rolled-leather, horseshoe-inspired detail.

Another "it" bag is the "Marcie," which has a pin-tucked horseshoe design on its front flap pocket, a tooled logo, and subtle gold hardware details-perfect for lugging around, from daytime meetings to nights-out in the town.

To top off your summer ensemble, there's the Chloé tote bag dubbed "Angie" in the brand's natural color palette, with accents of bright hues.

With this collection's feminine yet modern attitude, spontaneous charm, and youthful take on elegant dressing, let your hair down and step out in easy breezy pieces to go with your fresh-faced look-all in true Chloé girl fashion.
