Fashion-lovers can look forward to over a month's worth of runway shows, shopping bargains and a chic bazaar when the Fashion Steps Out (FSO) festival hits Orchard Road from March 16 to April 29.
Kicking off FSO this Saturday is a one-of-a-kind opening show that will see a 600m stretch of road along Singapore's famous shopping belt closed off from 8pm to 10pm for a runway extravaganza.
It is the first time FSO - which was called Fashion Season @ Orchard in its first two years - is attempting such a challenging feat; previous runway shows were held along the pavements and sidewalks of Orchard Road.
The public can look forward to a spectacular outing involving some 170 models who will show off the latest spring and summer collections from brands like Vivienne Westwood, Dsquared2 and Just Cavalli.
Next weekend (March 23 to 25), a fashion bazaar outside the Mandarin Gallery will offer exclusive buys from hip brands like Miss Selfridge and Topshop, beauty accessories from Diva, and exclusive giveaways from Lalina, a shower and bath brand expected to debut in Singapore in April.
To fuel up, shoppers can stopover at the Jones the Grocer Coffee Place section or snack on sweet treats from the Miss Selfridge candy store.
Orchard Road's shopping malls will not be left out of the excitement either.
At 313@somerset, a Fashion Alter Egos competition will hunt out Orchard Road's most flamboyant fashionista starting March 16, culminating in a glitzy showdown on April 29.
Over at ION Orchard, a weekly "Bag It" lucky draw will give shoppers to chance to win coveted bags from brands like Bottega Veneta, Giorgio Armani and Salvatore Ferragamo, with every $300 spent.
For those aged 18 and above, a live lingerie art exhibition on April 5 called Xtreme Fashion will let visitors view the latest lingerie collections via a 'peep-hole' concept.
There's no fashion without models and catwalks, and both Paragon and Orchard Central are lining up runway shows for the FSO season.
Expect to see international brands like Ashley Isham, Desigual and Levi's, as well as local designers Blackmarket No. 2 and SABRINAGOH at Orchard Central during the weekend shows from March 31 to April 22.
Paragon's SPRING 2012, from March 16 to April 6, will put brands like Ermenegildo Zegna, Maria Grachvogel and Calvin Klein on the mall's catwalk during the weekends.
