Is breast fullness an indication of ovulation?

Question:

Dear Dr Fong,

Recently, I realised that during the first few days of my ovulation (22rd Aug to 24th Aug), I tend to experience breast fullness. It is sometimes followed by pinkish blood when i wipe, or it leaves stains on my panty. Is this an indication of my ovulation period?

Answer:

At times, the sudden changes in the hormones at the mid cycle can result in spotting (light bleeding, does not require more than a panty liner for use) for 1 to 2 days. The rise in progesterone hormone levels after ovulation also makes the breasts feel full and the nipples may feel a bit more sensitive. These are indirect indications of ovulation.
