A research project by Amsterdam-based artist Lucy McRae and synthetic biologist Sheref Mansy could soon render the skin application of fragrances unnecessary.

Springwise, a company that seeks out promising new business ideas, has introduced Swallowable Parfum to the world this week - a capsule that is metabolized by the body to create a fragrance emanating from within.

"The strength of the resulting scent is determined by the individual's acclimatization to temperature, stress, exercise or sexual arousal," an article posted on Springwise's website explains.
