HA NOI - Super model Phuong Mai will represent Viet Nam for the first time at the world modelling contest Look of the Year in Sicily, Italy from September 25 to October 1.

Considered as one of the most promising models in Viet Nam, the 21-year-old has competed in several high profile modelling contests and pageants, including Asian Super Model 2009 and Miss Viet Nam World 2010, where she was among the top 10 and top 15 contestants, respectively.

Mai will begin taking part in a range of contest activities as soon as she arrives in Sicily on Sunday.

The Look of the Year finale will take place in an ancient Greek theatre located in the high-end coastal resort of Taormina on October 1.

Founded in 1983, Look of the Year is the third largest modelling contest in the world.

The contest gathers models ranging in age from 16 to 22 with a minimum height of 1.72m. A modelling agency from their home country must recommend them for participation. The 15 finalists will be trained to be international models to eventually brighten the world's famous catwalks in Paris, Milano and New York.
