Apps to make parents happy
by Chai Hung Yin

Family Fun

This app for iPhone helps parents find family-friendly facilities like nursing rooms, playgrounds and diaper-changing rooms.

Child-friendly restaurants are also on the list.

The app, created by U Family, a unit under the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), also allows parents to write reviews and rate destinations.

NTUC reports that there have been more than 1,000 downloads since the free app was soft-launched last month.

The free application can be downloaded from the App Store on iPhones or iTunes. Otherwise, visit www.ufamily.sg/familyfun

School Finder

This app allows parents to find nearest schools near a specified location - from kindergarten to primary schools to colleges to universities.

It even has schools that offer specialised courses in acting or beauty.

The app bases its information on Google searches. When a listing is selected, the school's exact location is displayed on a map.

The address, telephone numbers and the distance from your location will be shown too.

Baby Esp

With this Android app, there will be no more second guessing when junior had his last feed or last diaper change.

It allows you to track when your baby ate, peed, pooped, nursed or slept.

It can also print out a detailed report so you can identify patterns and begin developing a schedule.

You can set reminders for anything and everything - feeding time, bath time, medicine-taking - as well.

The application is available for free in the App Store on iPhones and iTunes.
