Grown Up Glamour by Marks & Spencer

This fall, Marks & Spencer's womenswear get a grown up look with a return to elegant sophistication. Spring's love affair with the classic decades - the 40's, 60's and 70's - has been infused into the latest collections, updated with a modern spin.

Playing with colours, fabrics, prints and silhouettes, Marks & Spencer's womenswear is a tempting collection composed of visually arresting styles. In Retro Glamour, contrasting textures like contemporary prints and faux fur give silhouettes pulled from the 1940's and 1970's a beautiful modern take. The darker palette of austere blacks, greys and browns is lit with peeks of richer colours like red, deep teal, orange and blue, enlivening up the overall aesthetic.

Free-spirited suggestions of cocoon shapes, shimmery paillettes and oversized checks make a tribute to 60's Pop, with the mod styles of the decade reinterpreted with contrasting textures like faux fur, leather and tartan. Popularized by style sirens like Marlene Dietrich and Katherine Hepburn, the Masculine / Feminine trend has been adapted brilliantly into tailored suits, well-cut jackets and tough leather pants. The masculine edge of the looks has been combined with intricately-cut simplicity for a softer, feminine undertone.

Historical Romance goes glamour goth, with high necklines, intricate lace and buttersoft leather. With sexy body conscious shapes, Marks & Spencer's latest version of goth distances itself from teenage gothic and aligns itself with grown up sensuality, represented in see-through corset tops, lace layered skirts and jumpsuits.

For an eclectic winter look, Luxe Craft mixes textures, prints and layering. Drawing inspiration from Ikat and Navajo patterns, knit tops are teamed with faux fur gilets and crocheted sweaters are matched with long palazzo trousers for a relaxed and slouchy look.

Get seriously sexy with Marks & Spencer's latest lingerie and shapewear collection featuring silk long line bras, lace-trimmed slips, kimono-styled wraps and waist cinching knickers. In Pin Up, 1950's-inspired lingerie looks come in a flattering and smoldering monochrome palette of black with nudes. Ultra feminine vintage lingerie get a modern makeover in Snow Belle, as the softest of tones are matched with equally soft fabrics like silk and plush velour.

Intricately pleated silks and lavish chinoserie prints and embroideries feature in Orient Express, infused with theatrical flair and sophisticated luxury. The prints trend creeps into the stunning Print Bazaar series with floral, plaid, animal, spots and stars popping up on balcony bras and soft silk knickers.
