Datuk Diva takes it online

MALAYSIAN pop princess Siti Nurhaliza did not use her voice to wow fans.

Instead, she charmed netizens via Yahoo! Malaysia's Question Timelive chat session with her typed responses on Wednesday.

The multi-talented 32-year-old, whose impressive resume includes actress and businesswoman, was asked questions ranging from her first English album to her favourite food.

One fan even asked the star to tag along on a camping trip.

Netizen Nor Amni Sarah Muhammad Zin asked: "Will you join me and my friends on a camping trip to Gunung Stong, Kelantan and we can see the sunshine together and maybe it will be the best memory for us forever?"

The star tactfully replied in Malay: "Thank you very much. I do want to go camping but unfortunately I don't have time to..."

The session took a personal turn when netizen Siti J asked Siti about her future plans. The singer replied: "I have many goals. But the one thing I really want to achieve is becoming a mother."

Most of the fans who took part in the live chat session said they were "office workers" and "students".

The singer, who addressed herself as "CT" throughout the chat, had little difficulty in answering all of their questions.

All but one.

When netizen Hazim Noslan cheekily asked Siti about her plans for the country when she becomes the first woman prime minister, the singer took a while to reply.

She eventually replied: "How I wish! If I become PM, I'll make sure the country stays peaceful, continues to progress, and I would definitely make sure we avoid internal fighting."

In 2006, the star was made a "Datuk" - a title awarded by the Malaysian government. The same year her album Transkripsi won the Best Pop Album and Best Album awards at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (Malaysia's music award ceremony).

But she came from humble beginnings.

Siti, who is the fourth child in a family of eight siblings, lived in a rural town in Pahang. She burst onto the music scene when she was 16 after winning Radio Televisyen Malaysia's Bintang singing competition.

Loved by fans

Netizen IzanWG posted: "Heart you so much!! Wish can meet you some day!! All the best!! I LOVE YOU!!"

Another fan, Zaratulnur Mohd Bahari, wrote a poem for the star.

Siti ended the chat by thanking her fans for taking part.

The singer, who has a Facebook following close to 400,000, admitted to organisers that she was more accustomed to tweeting. But she found the segment "both fun and enlightening."

Yahoo! Malaysia Country Editor Mr S Vicknesan said: "Her biggest difficulty was only at the start when she had type fast to cope with the initial deluge of questions coming in.

"(But) when asked during the session how she was finding it, she replied, 'I am having fun!'"

Siti is the third big name to use the Yahoo! Malaysia Question Time platform.

The previous two users were popular opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and Malaysian MP and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
