S'pore model fronts Send Love To Japan drive

SINGAPORE model Sheila Sim is appearing in a charity campaign for 313@ Somerset, the mall has announced.

In the wake of the Japan disasters, the mall has commissioned a Send Love To Japan limited-edition T-shirt, which will be given to anyone who makes a minimum donation of $50 through the mall. All the proceeds will go to the Singapore Red Cross.

Sim, considered one of Singapore's top models, said: "I lived in Japan for a year and it is like a second home to me.

"The Japanese are going through severe hardships and staying so strong for their country. Contributing to this campaign is the least I can do to help their cause."

The Send Love To Japan T-shirt, released last Wednesday, features a symbol of the sun, formed with little red hearts.

Sim appears in the campaign's posters, posing for the mall "on a complimentary basis", said the mall in a press release.

Ms Amy Lim, general manager of 313@Somerset, said that the campaign aims to provide another avenue for people to show their support.

"There are many fund- raising efforts and they are all worthy channels for people to express their support for the Japanese people, who are pushing on despite the tremendous hardships and trials ahead of them.

"Though 313's Send Love To Japan campaign is an appeal for help, it is at the same time an eloquent expression of our hope for Japan to find a quick path to recovery," she said.

Visit 313's concierge desk on Level 1 to make a donation. Donations of at least $50 will get you the T-shirt, as well as a complimentary glass of Sapporo Premium lager at JiBiru Japanese Craft Beer Bar, located at the Discovery Walk.
