Undergrad shocked at Vivian, Joe's reconciliation

Mother and fans disapprove of wedding

Vivian Chow and Joe Ni's dramatic break up and make up continues to fuel interest and speculation in the Hong Kong media.

Hong Kong magazine, Oriental Sunday, reported that Joe Ni's about-turn and subsequent proposal of marriage to Hong Kong singer Vivian Chow, including her magnanimous acceptance of the straying boyfriend, had been "scripted" and "orchestrated" by the former himself, after Joe Ni's infidelity was exposed by the paparrazzi.

It also seemed that Vivian's mother did not approve of her daughter's impending wedding to Ni. She had asked Vivian to reconsider her decision, to no avail.

Throughout this time, Vivian has remained uncontactable, while Joe has acted as spokesman for the couple.

Mifty Zhang wants Joe Ni back

It seems that Mifty is more than just a fling for Joe. The undergraduate has since returned to her hometown in Haikou, and is reportedly shocked by the wedding announcement of the celebrity couple.

A good friend of Mifty's revealed to the media that she believes the 23-year-old may even turn up to disrupt the wedding, since she has sacrificed her studies and even her reputation for Ni.

Netizens will boycott Vivian's concert

The recent scandal caused by Vivian's boyfriend may have jeopardised her career and public image.

Netizens have started an online poll on whether they will attend Vivian Chow's upcoming concert in May, with 73.97 per cent responding that they would boycott her concert, while some have even said that they are going to the concert to protest their idol's choice to marry Ni.

In another poll, more than 90% of netizens felt that Chow should not marry Ni.

Wedding preparations

Meanwhile, the couple's Jan 5 wedding is reportedly a simple affair to be held near Joe Ni's current residence at Hong Kong Parkview. But there are also reports that the couple were also considering holding their celebrations at the Hong Kong Turf Club in Happy Valley.

Vivian Chow's wedding gown is to be designed by close friend Dorian Ho, whose eponymous label is being sold in Tokyo and New York.
