Green's the word at this year's Fashion Season
by Lei Jiahui

ECO-FRIENDLY fashion will be on display from next Friday, as part of Fashion Season@ Orchard (FSO).

The event in Orchard Road, now in its second year, runs till May 8.

This year, in conjunction with Earth Hour on March 26, 313@Somerset will host the Green and Gorgeous Earth Hour Fashion Party, where 100 women can swop their pre-loved items with one another.

"We're hoping participants will realise that a fashion swop is one simple way to reduce wastage and revamp their wardrobes," said Ms Amy Lim, general manager of the mall.

Wisma Atria will also be staging an eco-fashion exhibition showcasing "recycled" works by students of Raffles Design Institute. A total of 10 outfits will be made, using items of clothing from past seasons' clothes, donated by Wisma Atria retailers.

As part of FSO, shoppers will be treated to a fashion show on April 8, when some 150 models will strut down a 160m-long runway stretching from Ion Orchard to Wisma Atria. Labels like Alldressedup will be featured.

"We want to make fashion accessible to everyone. It is a free- access event for people from all walks of life to watch the fashion show," said Mr Steven Goh, executive director of Orchard Road Business Association, which is organising FSO in partnership with Singapore Press Holdings and MasterCard. The event is supported by Singapore Tourism Board.

Look in this section for next Friday's story on FSO, where my paper will feature the workshops you can attend, the discounts you can receive at participating malls, and the runway shows you won't want to miss.
