TAIPEI, Taiwan - Popular singer Selina returned to Taipei and was checked into the Linkou branch of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei County late last night after sustaining burns during the shooting of an explosion scene for a TV drama series in Shanghai.

Selina is out of danger and has regained consciousness and taken foods, said her father Jen Ming-ting.

But Selina will need skin transplant surgery and recuperation, said Jen. He thanked the concern expressed by Selina's friends and fans.

Selina, whose given name is Jen Jia-shuan, is a member of Taiwan's pop singer group, S.H.E. She was filming in Shanghai alone without partners Hebe and Ella in the pop group.

She suffered third-degree burns to her back, hands and legs in the accident that took place on Friday. She was immediately admitted to a hospital in Shanghai, said her agent.

The agent said the explosives for a scene went off earlier than the set time when the actual filming started, although several tests of the explosives went smoothly without any problems.

Accompanied by her father and fiance, Selina was taken back to Taipei Songshan Airport on a direct cross-strait flight peof Taiwan's Trans Asia Airways from Hongqiao Airport in Shanghai.

Selina was scheduled to get married next April. Her fiance is a legal counsel at a major insurance firm in Taiwan.
