Cyberworld full of praise for efforts to empower women

PETALING JAYA - Positive reactions from netizens flooded the cyberworld as they gave the thumbs up to national efforts to empower women.

National Council of Women's Organisation president, who is also Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia vice-chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudi, tweeted that there were "1 Million purple walk all over the nation this morning. Let's walk the talk for women's empowerment".

Celebrity deejay Hunny Madu tweeted, "Prime Minister's speech was my favourite part. Women in Malaysia claimed to be the best in paying their debts, while 62 per cent were qualified to enter University".

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched the event at Putrajaya while mentris besar and chief ministers did the same at state-level events.

Netizen Anjli Dosi tweeted about the huge crowd at the 1Million Women Purple walk in Putrajaya, saying it was a "great programme".

Acu_comei tweeted that the "1 Million purple walk campaign has strengthened the bonds between family members and the community".

JP Maznah Ngah said Malaysian women from all walks of life continued to celebrate their success in 1Million Women Purple Walk.

Sarah chocoholic tweeted about meeting many friends from different schools at the Putrajaya event.

Another Twitter user, ika_afiqah1986 said: "Heroine of the country. Go women. Go ladies. Go walk. Look gorgeous in Purple."
