As a double agent on the run, Angelina Jolie paraded a series of different looks in
her latest spy thriller Salt. Blonde, brunette; Power suit, fur-trimmed coat; Woman, man. Yep, she even disguised herself as a guy at the end of the movie.
So how we wish Jolie was as chameleonic in real life as her ambiguous alter ego Evelyn Salt.
After all, the 35-year-old actress is probably the most beautiful, glamorous and intriguing woman in Hollywood, the kind who should rightly be a default fashion icon.
Disappointingly, her misses outnumbered her hits on the Salt promo tour. And we just figured out her secret identity: Plain Jane.
It seems that comfort, pragmatism and restraint were key in choosing her working wardrobe. That, and more black than Morticia Addams can handle.
Come on Jolie, it’s a movie premiere, not a funeral!
Perhaps she thought the last thing she needs in her life is more attention, whereas we just expected a tad more glitz from a movie star of her calibre.
So if going undercover and keeping a low fashion profile was her mission, I’d say she aced the test.

1 Jolie plugged Salt at Comic-Con in San Diego in a super-tight waist-cinching leather jacket by Versace, a pencil skirt by Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo peep-toe heels.
The fanboys may drool over how she looks like she’s ready to kick some booty, but this was Jolie at her most predictable. (Photo: Internet)

2 Who died and made Jolie a soccer mum dressed for a PTA meeting? The fuss-free and uncharacteristically conservative ensemble from the Tokyo press conference – long-sleeved wrap blouse, pants and those nude peep-toes worn to death at previous premieres (all from Salvatore Ferragamo) – was bland, boring and far from the femme fatale we’re so used to seeing. |

3 Jolie toned it way down again at the Seoul premiere in this underwhelming, generic strapless LBD from Colleen Atwood teamed with Gucci heels. To make things worse, her unkempt tresses and out-of-control bangs weren’t having a good day at all. |

4 Even the former sexiest woman alive can’t make a trash bag look good. Possibly the ugliest outfit she’s ever worn, this shapeless L’Agence spaghetti-strap silk column maxidress from the Seoul press conference wasn’t doing her skinny frame any favours. Neither was the au natural makeup, which exposed her tiredness. We recommend a good vacation with Brad Pitt and the kids, pronto. |
