Former Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai has been discharged from hospital after giving birth to a pair of twins.

According to a report in The Star, she has left the hospital on July 24. However, Gigi's younger twin was still hospitalised.

“My elder daughter has gone back home before me but my younger one still has to stay in hospital,” said Lai, 39, who married businessman Patrick Ma Ting-Kung, 52, in 2008.

Another report in the Daily Chili also said that her husband had given her presents worth about HK$86.2m (S$15.1m) for giving birth to their daughters.

The presents included a HK$70mil luxury home, a HK$1.2mil BMW car and HK$15mil boat.

During her stay in the hospital, he also spent some HK$800,000 to hire 28 bodyguards, two confinement nurses and three maids for Gigi and the babies' comfort and security.

They have yet to name the babies, but Gigi said her husband would decide on their names.
