Michael Kors: It’s a wardrobe: we were looking through my incredible photography collection and I have lots of amazing photographs from the 70s of Patti Hansen and Lisa Taylor and they look sexy but relaxed and I really wanted that mood- that languid, easy feeling.

I always think that Americans created sportswear: we are the inventors. I’ve been making sportswear now for 29 years and I like the idea that something can be comfortable but sexy. I think it’s what works for most women because life is busy! Even in terms of evening wear you don’t want to be wearing something heavy and old-fashioned.
