New Spring/Summer 2011 collection by Raoul
by

It was in a suite at the Hotel Vendôme that Raoul held their presentation, inspired this season by Michelangelo Antonioni's film, "The Passenger" starring the actress Maria Schneider. A very seaside-friendly wardrobe, dominated by a 70s silhouette, made-up of flared skirts with large eyelet holes to slide a belt through, and wide-legged trousers that had been cuffed at the bottom, worn with short sleeved tops and neck ties.

Odile Benjamin : The spirit of the collection is a traveller's story. We're taking our woman to very exotic locations this season. We're taking her to Casablanca in Morocco, we're taking her to Petra, and we're taking her to the south of France where she's going to be lying on the Riviera. Our muse was Maria Schneider, and we watched 'The Passenger' - that was the backdrop of the collection, that was really our mood-board - we picked critical scenes from the movie, and we came up with a beautiful colour palette - corals, and earth colours like beiges and blushes.

It's very feminine and very fluid but with a slightly utilitarian edge, so we've got some pieces that have utilitarian pockets, we've used canvas on some of the pieces. But the rest is printed silk georgettes, with beautiful floral prints, beautiful herringbone chiffons. You just imagine that woman floating on a boat or at the back of a car, chiffon is just floating around her - we just wanted to give her a free spirit!
