A $30,000 engagement party
by

Every girl dreams of being a princess, and for 26-year-old Jolene Chong, her dream came true.

For one night, she became Cinderella, dancing with her prince charming under twinkling lights.

Dressed in a pale blue gown, the bride-to-be arrived on a white horse, making her way to a castle-themed reception.

There were fire blowers, magicians and even a glass slipper.

This was the fairytale engagement party of Jolene and Joseph Ong, 28, a pair of lovebirds who met in university.

Many guests also came dressed for the occasion.

Little red riding hood and the Big Bad Wolf, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, and even Pocahontas was there.

For more on the lavish event, watch RazorTV.

readers' comments
When two people are in love, it is only natural they would like their special day to be a memorable one. Splashing out 30k is rather excessive. But then the cost of living has risen quite substantially over the years, so maybe 30k is justifiable !

Hmm dunno man surekok. All I can say is.... Too bad you can't afford a $30k engagement party. If you lick your own balls for lim peh to see I promise to pay for your kids engagement party. Hahhahahhahaha

F1amethrower another low class young Ah Beng. In AngMo know as Tom, **** & Harry. A educated clown who entertain is definitely better than a low class Idiots. Go back to school and finish your basic degree b4 you start to yawn and groan.

IT's up to individual couple to assess their capabilities. If they felt that 30K is
within their mean and worth spending, then let it be. However, reality is, are couples able to stand the test of time after marriage?

Why are there so many harsh comments? I think this idea is very creative and nice. Its their wedding afterall, let them do whatever they want.

Btw, this reminds me of the another recent wedding where bride and groom (and guests) dress as their favourite superheroes. Link --> http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/836815-batman-marries-wonder-woman-in-superhero-wedding-bash

Why can't marriage just be a quiet affair?
Simply don't understand why some people like to waste everyone's time by thinking of such silly antics just to show off.

30 k not a lot la, still is quite a sum for engagement party, usually parents will foot the bill i think, because they can afford, young peoples tends to think marriage has to be perfect, life is good with very little hardship, i can only say youngster nowadays have very limited life experience to settle down at that age, i just wasn't so sure they are ready, speaking in general, not referring to this couple specificly. my china friend told me, her china ex boyfriend vs singapore boyfriend here, difference is the maturity, singapore boyfriend treated her well but not as matured because seldom face hardship

What matter most is the marriage, not the wedding or the lavish engagement event. So what the couple has a lavish engagement or wedding but the ending is SAD....... Divorce......

What a stupid couples, flushing 30K of good money into the drain. I will not be surprise, that they will be in heavy debts and no pity for them.
