The Miss Universe 2013 pageant concluded on Saturday in Moscow, Russia, with Gabriela Isler of Venezuela walking away with the crown. The New Paper spoke to Singapore's representative at the pageant, before the finals for the highlights of her journey thus far.
Miss Universe Singapore Shi Lim was in Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia, where she and 85 other contestants vied for arguably the most prestigious of pageant crowns.
The business executive, 25, arrived at the Russian capital in mid-October. She had been busy over the last 2½ weeks attending events and participating in leisure activities.
There were even surprise catwalks and last-minute omissions - she was fitted for Lebanese fashion designer Tony Ward's show for Moscow Fashion Week but didn't make the final cut - sprung on her leading up to the finals on Saturday.
"It's been very cold here (about 13 deg C), especially during our visit to Red Square because we were outdoors most of the time.
But I've been having a great time," she told The New Paper during a video call before the finals.
On her chances of winning, Miss Shi was diplomatic: "I know this may sound cliched but I honestly do think that every girl is very strong.
"There are, of course, the public favourites and the contestants' favourites, like Miss Philippines and the South American girls who are usually the most talked-about."
She shares with us the top five highlights of her Miss Universe journey so far.
