"You think I enjoy exposing my body?"
by Ng Jun Sen

SINGAPORE - Some men would try to touch her during the photo shoots. Others would offer her extra money for "special services".

So when she read online comments that she was taking the easy way out by exploiting her body, Mary was angry.

She said: "You think I enjoy doing this?"

Working as a lingerie model is hardly glamorous, she added. Not when some of the photographers who attend her shoots have questionable intentions.

"There are some who say they are professionals, but when they show up, they use their mobile phone cameras," Mary said. Even the "pros" have their demands.

Posing for them usually means long hours of squatting and bending over for them, she said.

"It's tiring and I sometimes have to rush from one photo shoot to another."

Many of her modelling sessions are held in private studios and small hotel rooms.

She would often find herself in a room with one or two men eagerly snapping away on their cameras at her near-naked body.

Singapore mum gets flak for posing nude to support baby

SINGAPORE - Slut, whore, porn star.

These were some of the words that netizens used to malign a 23-year-old mother of two after she posted nude photos of herself on Facebook.

People can be so judgmental.

Mary (not her real name) might have been naive to have posted such provocative pictures and not expect lewd comments and condemnation, but it's all part of her work.

She is a lingerie model, a profession she went into with her eyes open because, she said, she has limited options as an N-level certificate holder.

Modelling is the highest-paying job she can get, said Mary, who previously worked as an auxiliary police officer and an administrative associate, but found that they didn't pay enough.

And posting the pictures, in which she's sometimes naked but without exposing any naughty bits, had the desired effect - they managed to drum up more business for her.

"I actually saw more job offers from photographers after the pictures went out," she said.

She is used to lewd comments from strangers as she frequently posts risqué photos of herself onto her Facebook page.

But her latest batch of pictures was becoming too hot to handle, so she took them down two hours after posting them.

You guys never watch the show by Andy Lau and ye-de-Xian? He's a lawyer who is defending his prostitute mum?

Yes, life is cruel, but why glorify this mum when she only pose nude and not do prostitution? I'm sure there're more of such mum around, but nobody cares about them.

So why people want to write about her? That's the question.

Karayuki-san (唐行きさん "Ms. Gone-to-China"?) were Japanese women who traveled to East Asia and Southeast Asia in the second half of the 19th century to work as prostitutes.

Many of the women who went overseas to work as karayuki-san were the daughters of poor farming or fishing families. The women went overseas to make money in the prostitution industry and remit their earnings back to their poor parents. Many of these women were said to have originated from the Amakusa Islands of Kumamoto Prefecture, which had a large and long-stigmatized Japanese Christian community.

When you have never been in such a situation before, don't talk like you are so brave and righteous.... Maybe you have not seen nor met parents who lame their children so that their children still can live and not die of hunger. It is a very cruel world we live in today....

Precisely, totally agreed! Might as well be a full porn artist or night club hostess *** prostitute to garner more pity sympathy! Furthermore the money is better than been just posing nude.

'N' level indeed, no brain to think what if one day her child grow up to know that his mother brought him up through selling her flesh, whether prostiting herself or through exposing of flesh is a no no excuse!

Another lowly low-class menace that is tarnishing the good image of Singapore.

All these good words reported in the article .... and after Wanbao reporters dig in deep into the case ... we see a spendthrift and shameless chabor who got herself pregnant by another man and claim the baby was made by her separated husband fertilized 1 year ago, use fake qualification and kena sacked, live on expensive lifestyle and branded goods ..... :D :D

But again .... such type of local girls are only condemned by local people .... if such girls are Thailand young girls, the same criticisers will blah kang pusing sing praises and promote such doings..... :D :D

I think it does not matter on the qualification whether you are "n" level the most important things is your ability to think. Don't think of men as a way to get easy money, maybe cut down on your expenses. can worked as a bank teller, factory production worker and slowly worked your way up also can .

If cannot suffered hardship, I suggest you make used of your youth and tried and marry a good rich man never mind old a bit better than taking photos that will come back and haunt you. Furthermore, if can give your children a good future why not.

I read this article a few times and see how I can related to it.

I think at the poorest for which lasted a long time, we have no electricity to our home, have loan shark knocking on our door and have to go public swimming pool to bath or and I also sleep at playground caused Dad did not pay HDB rent.

But never have I thought of selling myself or modelling. We sewed umbrella, and sewed carpet. I am not saying it is bad but I think the children will appreciate it more if you can endure poor and hardship. My worst moment also has become mine best memories.
