Unknown here but Singaporean actress making waves in China and Korea

After playing the lead role in more than 20 dramas serials over 12 years, you would think that Singaporean Veronica Foo would be a household name here.

However, that is not the case, because the shows that the 30-year-old had starred in were not local productions but rather, dramas made in China and Korea.

In an interview with Shinmin Daily, Foo said that she made a bold decision to establish herself in China at the tender age of 18 upon completion of her diploma at Nanyang Polytechnic.

She rose to fame after she landed a role alongside Vicki Zhao and Nicholas Tse in the Chinese drama Jade Goddess of Mercy. And she's not looking back.

Her performance in that show has opened doors for her, giving her opportunities to take on challenging projects such as a Chinese-Korean production that saw her star alongside Korean actor Shim Ji Ho.

That, in turn, also led to a starring role in a few Korean music videos.

While a return to Singapore isn't on the cards for now, Foo certainly seems to have the potential to do well here, considering her success overseas.

I still stick to my theory - Superman is not super if he's still at Krypton. So he has to be on Earth to be superman.

Same for Singaporeans. We've to be overseas to be 'super', else if we're in Singapore, people think we're just commoners and daft!

Singapore market is too small. Further, Singaporeans ape westerners more.
You have made the correct choice.
