While the general public always appreciates their favourite celebrities being as truthful and open as they possibly can be, honesty isn't always the best policy at times -- judging by the recent criticism aimed at Chinese actress Baby Guo.

The 22-year-old, who is active on social media, was initially mocked by netizens who criticized her face, chin and figure, saying that she had manipulated her photos to look slimmer before posting them online.

Guo hit back and tried to justify her slight frame by posting a full-body photo of herself on her Weibo account along with the caption: "Actually, I'm really very thin. I'm 1.63m tall and weigh 84 pounds (42kg). How much thinner can I go?"

That response led netizens to pour even more cold water on her.

One of them even left a sarcastic comment, asking her if the weight was "referring to (her) face" only.

Another actress in the spotlight for her weight recently is Hong Kong actress Christine Kuo.

The 2009 Miss Chinese International Pageant winner is reported to have gained over 30 pounds (13.6kg) in the past three years, going from 115 pounds (52.3kg) to 150 pounds (68.2kg), reported Sina.com.

With a fuller face and thicker arms and legs, even Christine's own friends and colleagues could not help but to comment that Christine has been "looking happier."
