Jet Li's daughter to join Shanghai's AKB48 group

Jet Li has confirmed that his daughter will join Shanghai-based AKB48 spin-off group SNH48.

Taiwan news agency NOWnews reported that the action star's eldest daughter passed the audition for 2nd generation members of SNH48.

SNH48, the idol group based in Shanghai, is an offshoot group of Japanese pop phenomenon AKB48, and was created in October 2012.

In the interview with the news agency, Jet Li said he doesn't want to intervene in what his daughter has decided on her own will, and expressed his intention to support his daughter's challenge.

"I just need to calmly accept her decision." he said.

Moreover, SNH48′s management issued an offer, asking Jet Li to become a judge for the audition (for 2nd generation members).

Li's daughter, Li Si, will turn 25 this year. She is his eldest daughter from his first marriage to former Chinese actress, Huang Qiuyan.

After graduating from high school, Li Si moved to the US to study together with her little sister.

It's rumoured that she has already obtained a Green Card, with the help of her father.
