Man proposes on board S'pore's 'love train'

SINGAPORE - Commuters on SBS Transit's North-East Line (NEL) were fortunate enough to witness two marriage proposals on Valentine's Day.

Mr Yip Hin Hoe and Mr Raymond Huang surprised their partners with public declarations of love as they got down on bended knees in front of cheering commuters and members of the media.

The happy events took place on Singapore's first romance-themed "love train", jointly organised by travel accommodation site AsiaRooms.com and HelpYouMarry, a wedding proposal planner and imaging company.

"The concept behind the Love Train campaign was to inspire and reignite the passion for travel with loved ones, so the choice of proposing on the Love Train is apt and timely," said Mr Clarence Lin, Brand Development Lead of AsiaRooms.com

The two couples - Mr Yip and Miss Angelene Tan, as well as Mr Huang and Miss Lim Jia Hui, will also get to go on a romantic getaway of their choice, sponsored by the site.

Mr Yip, 37, a sales associate, has been dating tutor Miss Tan, 31, for 12 years.

He said the idea to propose on the train came about naturally, as the two of them often take the train together. Mr Yip also surprised Miss Tan with 12 balloons, each bearing a photo of a significant moment in their 12-year relationship.

Those who missed the heartwarming sights fret not, commuters can look forward to another surprise and unique celebration of love that will take place in the train on Feb 24.

Angelene and Jia Hui why so happy and accept such cheapskate kind of publicity stunt as marriage proposals ???? Their looks quite okay wat .... scared nobody want to marry meh??? :p :D

Get reporters to make news of marriage proposal inside a MRT .... how more cheapskate can these guys get? Probably can ask the girls family to fund the entire wedding and new HDB house with everything inside plus a big King Size Bed with dom-doms ... :D :D

I sincerely hope their marriage will last a life-time and not break down so often like the Train system.
