Twilight star Kristen Stewart's latest wardrobe choices may just be taking attention away from the newest film in the blockbuster vampire series.
As The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II premiered this week, the actress is giving the media much to talk about by turning up in see-through outfits at two red-carpet screenings of the movie so far.
On Wednesday, at the London premiere of the film, Stewart, 22, stunned fans by wearing a black, lacy jumpsuit by designer Zuhair Murad that revealed a lot of skin except for some strategic parts of her body.
Just two days earlier, fans saw her on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere in a nude and lacy gown, also by Murad. Her butt, visible under a virtually transparent skirt, was the subject of some musings on the Web about whether she was wearing a body suit.
She had confessed to a fling with married film director Rupert Sanders, 41, in July that had her labelled a cheat in her relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, 26.
But her vampy turnaround, by a star who has shown a fondness for Converse sneakers and grungy clothes, appeared to push all that to the background.
Some in the media suspected that her racy outfits were calculated. "Kristen certainly distracted from what is going on in her personal life with her very distracting outfit," reported the Daily Mail on Tuesday.
She was also "thumbing her nose at the press storm that followed her admission of infidelity... and reclaiming her confidence, independence and her sexuality", said The Hollywood Reporter, citing red-carpet observers.
Or is her fashion statement simply just to say that she is moving on from the sulky Bella Swan character in Twilight to a more mature and new, glamorous self?
