SINGAPORE - 24-year-old sales engineer Phoebe Tan was crowned Miss Earth Singapore 2012 last Saturday night.
The 1.72m leggy lass will represent Singapore in the 12th international Miss Earth 2012 beauty pageant, which will be held in Indonesia on Oct 28 this year.
More than 700 guests were at the event, held at Avalon at Marina Bay Sands.
Besides the title of Miss Earth Singapore, the 10 finalists also vied for other titles like Miss Earth Singapore – Air 2012, Miss Earth Singapore – Water 2012, and Miss Earth Singapore – Fire 2012, as well as the other subsidiary titles of Miss Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit, Miss Friendship 2012, and Miss Popularity 2012 (decided by online voters).
Students Cassandra Gan, 20, and Daphanie Lee, 24, were crowned Miss Earth Singapore Air and Miss Earth Singapore Water respectively, while staff nurse Stacy Wong, 23, took home the title of Miss Earth Singapore Fire.
According to pageant organiser C. T. Hansen International Pte Ltd, Miss Earth Singapore finalists are expected to be "green ambassadors" to inspire change towards a more eco-friendly society.
