Pop star Faye Wong arrived in Singapore last night, to the reception of 20-odd fans who turned up to catch a glimpse of her at Changi Airport.
Fans who had gathered there about 30 minutes earlier tried to take snapshots of the Beijing-born pop diva as she walked past the gates into the arrival hall at about 11pm, but she was whisked away faster than you can say "Welcome to Singapore".
The singer will be performing at the Indoor Stadium tomorrow as part of her comeback tour.

Thanks. I totally agree with you. To say that the local people have a hard time understanding us is totally untrue. My husband's Taiwanese colleagues generally speak Mandarin and they have no problems, too.
also got newspaper competition giving out free tickets. she overpriced herself. She used to be semi-retired. but unfortunately, spent a bomb on her daughter surgery, and a good-to-look-at husband, no choice but to sing again. does not look so nice to run to ex-beau Tse for monies right ?
You are right and as U speak from experience there. Actually I have spoken to people from Beijing..is true that there chinese is so heavy accented that at times I can only catch fleeting words. Is like I have to ask them to repeat again. In fact I can understand Taiwanese speaking Mandarin..so I wonder will Ix Shen said Taiwanese also speak bad chinese???
Anyway I think Ix Shen at that age of 40 Coming of age being an Uncle, shld learn to be more humble and speak with down to earth attitude. DUn show arrogance just b'cos he got a lobang in CHina. Frankly, is just a matter of time he get kick back to Sg. Just like Ann Kwok in the past. So Ix Shen, dun be a aloof and too proud cos' one day you will have to face .....
When I stayed in China for several years, I loved to watch the Beijing actors and actresses speak in Mandarin because of their accent but LOL, I was informed by my child's tutors, a husband and wife, who were school teachers in Suzhou, that actually, the Beijing natives speak Mandarin badly because of their heavy accent! So, if Ix Shen thinks that his Beijing-accented Mandarin or diction is good, he better "balek kampong" and start from the bottom.

Go to china just b'cos learn Beijing Mandarin for few months or years, come back here and yaya papaya criticised us all for not speaking good mandarin!
