CHINA and pole dancing may not seem like a viable mix at first, but actually these sexy dance moves are all the rage in the Mainland.
In fact, the men there are joining in all of this too, claiming that such moves can "show off a guy's masculinity", China Daily reported.
A reason for this could be because of the different connotations this dance has in China as compared with the West.
"Most people here haven't even heard of pole dancing," said Cicilia Yang, owner of Pussycat Dance studio. "For them, it's just a new style of dance."
At a pole dancing contest in China, for example, contestants did their moves to pop tunes, and were dressed in traditional costumes.
"It's more of a cultural show," commented foreigner William Glaser, from the United States.
Meanwhile, inside the for-ladies-only Pussycat Dance studio, pole-dancing students are working hard at the pole, motivated precisely by the erotic nature of the dance.
Yang added, "Women come here primarily to feel more sexy."
"Inside every woman is a pussycat wanting to come out."
